We had the meeting with the Joint Planning Board for the town of Ridgway and Ouray County on September 16 and requested they amend the zoning regulations to allow for “Assisted Living Residences”.  It was an intense meeting with strong emotions expressed by residents on both sides of the issue, but in the end, the amendment was approved with a few minor changes recommended and will now be passed onto the Ouray County Commissioners for their approval before the zoning code is changed.

Once this process is completed, it will not only open one of the doors needed for us to be able to serve burn-injured children in Ouray County, but the elderly that love that county as their home might now also have an option to see someone open an assisted living home to serve their needs! The actual paperwork for the zoning amendment should take another month to be processed.

We are now busy establishing a presence in Ridgway, opening a PO Box and creating business materials necessary to further our vision. Our next step will be to apply for a “Special Use Permit” and to request that the State approve and license Hope’s Journey Int’l under the necessary qualifications.

Our excitement and anticipation builds as each hurdle is passed.  We greatly appreciate your prayers and support as our expectations are consistently surpassed!
